“Reciprocal Love” ‘VIA’ “Trinity Communion”

Our ‘title theme’ (in #33 mode) has 5 key words ‘set out’ in 3 ‘subsets’ ::: “Reciprocal Love” ::: ‘VIA’ ::: “Trinity Communion”. These words – individually and collectively – seek to express our Christian story.

Yes, “Love” – “God is Love” – is, in essence, ‘relational by nature’, and, “Reciprocal” is a “complementary” descriptive tag (like “mutual”).

Our next element – ‘VIA’ – at root ‘by way of’ – is ‘short’ for ‘Value Identity Affirmation’, but (in the totality of this website’s LOGO) designates personal “esteem” (‘APPROVAL’) and ‘status’ (‘BELONGING’) that humankind needs in terms of ‘formation affirmation’.

The third segment – “Trinity Communion” – seeks to express core Christian Mystery ::: “‘3 in 1”’ unity.

So, there you have it  – the ‘Answer’ – but what you may ask is – the ‘Question’? And, here it is (in the words of Fr. Pat Collins) ::: “What on earth in heaven’s name is God up to?” Now, you might think “is that It” and the answer is “yes”, but, keep an eye on “it”, as (‘big’) “IT” stands for “Incarnate Trinity” ::: “Father Son Spirit”. Yes, again, we are on a “hunger and thirst” journey for “home” truths.

Now, the greatest “home truth” was expressed by Jesus the Christ –

“Love God above all and neighbour as self”

(Matthew 22:36-40 / Mark 12:30-31)

From a Christian perspective, ‘life itself’ is all about ‘relationships’ or – at a deeper level – ‘communion’ (“with God and one another”). This, latter, is the ‘key’ to the reality of “Trinity Communion” – living the way God made us to live – living the way the Trinity lives.

So, you see, we are talking about ‘reciprocal / mutual / complementary’ Love, which, ‘at heart’ (remember: ‘the heart of the matter is the matter of the heart’) is “self giving”. Yes – and, let’s recall Mary’s “Yes” – we are responding (in ‘childlike mode’) by “giving ourselves” to ‘life itself’ (i.e. to ‘God’s action in our lives’). 

Ok, you may say, that’s all ‘nice in theory’, but ‘difficult in practice’! And, I agree, as the ‘human condition’ is as ‘stubborn as an ass’. But, we have the ‘secret escape option’  – ‘hidden in clear view’ – to ‘open up to God’ to transcend our ‘self imposed limitations’. Life – no matter what it entails – comes in three dimensions ::: Single ::: Social ::: Spiritual. And, if we fail to “see” the ‘third attribute at work’ (in all situations) we are “stuck”. 

The ‘Good News’ – believe it or not – is that our ‘human limitation’ is our entry into ‘divine freedom’ or, as St. Paul expressed this conundrum ::: “When I am weak, then I am strong” (2 Corinthians 12:8-10). So, to sum up –

Life is simple when you have only one God

– hundreds of problems : only one solution –

Finally – in terms of the ‘World’ – “Life is secular transactions”, but – in terms of the ‘Kingdom’ – “Life is God’s Gift”. And, the ‘truth’ is –

Everything is Sacramental in God’s Love

‘Life itself’ is a ‘Sacramental Communion’  

Our task is to “see the world” as God sees it, so that, “seeing the world” becomes a way of “knowing God” –

We are the ‘visible’ side of the ‘invisible’
