God’s Family : ‘Fatherhood and Motherhood’

Our ‘title theme’ (& follow-on “short memo” statements in #33 mode) – which might, also, be stated in terms of –

The GIFT of LIFE : ‘Fatherhood / Motherhood’

will provide focus for the ‘World Meeting of Families’. In particular, we will be pondering : ‘Our Father in Heaven’ and ‘Mary our Mother’ –

God’s Family : Is the story of all Creation

God is Family made manifest in Creation

God as Family is ‘Fatherhood / Motherhood’

St. Augustine’s deep insight – into this subject matter – is worth remembering : ‘You have made us for Yourself, O’Lord, and our hearts are restless until they rest in You’.

In other words –

You have made humans for Yourself, O’Lord

And our hearts are restless without You

We find ‘meaning’ / ‘fulfillment’ only in God

When we accept ‘God’s Spirit’ / ‘our humanity’

So, what are we ‘on’ about?

God, as divine Father, has made ‘PRO’VISION

His VISION is ‘Perfect Relational Order’

But, Adam and Eve ignored God’s ‘PRO’VISION

The ‘fall-out’ instigated ‘world disorder’

And ‘human misery’ in separation from God

But, Mary our Mother came to our aid –

Mary accepted to be God’s ‘medium / message’

Mary pondered these things in her heart

Mary is what all creation was meant to be

Mary co-operated, in a unique way, with the Father’s Plan to rescue the ‘Fallen Human Race’ – at the Annunciation (for Christ’s conception) and at Pentecost (for the formation of the Church). It was due to Mary’s personal response – in ‘love and obedience’ – in ‘faith and humility’ – that God’s ‘GIFT OF LIFE’ found complete ACCEPTANCE ::: “Behold the handmaid of the Lord”.

Giving yourself means receiving other

Mary’s YES is the Christian Way ::: ‘to be wholly God’s’, because, ‘God is wholly ours’. In sum: Mary ACCEPTED the only true nature of each creature and of all creation ::: to place the ‘meaning’ and the ‘fulfillment’ of ALL LIFE in God.

LOVE : Reciprocal Mutual Complementary

The Mystery of LOVE : Divine / Human : Christ

Mary stands for all human beings, because it is – – –  only when we ACCEPT and RESPOND ‘in loving obedience’ / ‘in faithful humility’ – – – only when we ‘DRAW’ (out) ::: ‘Die (to self) Recognise Acknowledge Welcome’ ::: the ‘divinely ordained’ ‘Fatherhood / Motherhood’ of creation – – – only when we ‘Consent / Correspond / Conform’ to God’s Divine Will (i.e. ‘God’s Spirit’) do we transcend our ‘limitations’ (i.e. ‘our humanity’).

Mary exemplifies (symbolises) the perfect return of the ‘GIFT OF LIFE’ back to God. She became the Mother of Christ. Thus, the ‘Motherhood of Mary’ made manifest the Christ LIFE ::: that we (too) might manifest the LIFE of Christ ::: in ourselves and in our Families.

Addendum: You may well ask – “what on earth in heaven’s name is this article all about?” So, here’s “clues” to contemplate – – –

‘Fatherhood / Motherhood’ = ‘all LIFE source’

‘Motherhood’ is the womb of creation LIFE

‘Motherhood’ is being wiped off the earth
